Outdoor activity area / campsite for the young community to broaden their scouting ambitions

The proposal

Bassingham Scout Group is embarking on an adventurous new project to develop our Scouting activities by setting up and managing a sustainable camp site. Not only will this allow us to develop camping skills with our young members but will also broaden their environmental and adventure skills too, as well as giving us an area for other outside social activities. This will be available to all age groups within the Scout Group (6 to 18 years old) and we hope that other Scout groups will be able to make use of these facilities in the future.

Fundraising goals

Our first goal is to fundraise enough funds to acquire a site, make it secure and accessible and install basic facilities (WC, Kitchen, equipment storage). This will allow us to start using the site.

Our second goal would be to make the site cosier, perhaps have a small wooded area for wide games, dedicated camp fire area, outdoor cooking areas, defined camping areas and increase the shelter to them.

Volunteering

We envisage having two fundraising groups, one to continue with researching into grants and outside sources and a second to organise, advertise and run local fundraising events. We would welcome anyone with experience in any of these fields willing to lend a hand and share their knowledge and experiences of work in this area, scouting or non-scouting.

 

When we can start physical work on site, we will welcome any help and support from volunteers large or small from all manner of trades required to complete this ambitious but deserving project.
